With the tobacco industry in decline and Maryland lawmakers discouraging tobacco farming in the state with a buyout program, this will be the last year many Southern Maryland farmers will be selling their crop at the annual tobacco auction. The three-week auction started March 13. Maryland Newsline staffer Amy Silva visited the Waldorf Warehouse the following day, capturing images and stories from people involved in the industry.
