Del's Barber
Shop Offers Cuts, Kitsch
The first thing
most visitors notice about Del's Styling Ranch in Annapolis, Md., isn't the acrid smell of
permed hair.
Instead, it's the life-sized statue of Elvis Presley in owner Del Puschert's
barn, which sits catty-corner to his barber shop. As speakers blast Elvis
songs from five different CDs, 24 hours a day, the King peers down from a large window.
The figure is part of Puschert's seemingly endless collection of King memorabilia and
antique tin signs -- which draw people to the shop for
more than just haircuts.
