Baltimore Co.'s Black History In Photos

Geraldine Wiggins Berry is from Railroad Avenue in historic East Towson, Md., a community that has been in existence since the slavery era. (From "Since The Beginning") An early 1900s photograph of the senior choir of Grace AME Church in Catonsville, Md., a historic African-American community. The church was built in 1868 and is the oldest African-American church in Catonsville. (From "It All Started On Winters Lane")

A 1925 picture of the Welch children in

The old one-room African-American school house in Garrison, Md. It was in the community since the end of the slavery era and was replaced by a stone, four- or five-room school house. Several of the children in the picture are still alive. (From  "In Our Voices")
