Other people have always had ideas about how to use the bamboo on Tufts' farm. Before signing up to donate to the zoo, Tufts was approached by people who wanted to use the bamboo for all sorts of endeavors--from building lightweight hang gliders to decorating a Chinese restaurant. Tufts says anyone who thinks he or she wants bamboo should think again; she says she has been trying to get rid of it for years.
