Successful Legislation in Maryland in 2005:

• Senate Bill 728: Maryland Pharmacy Discount Program
  This will give a prescription drug discount to individuals not covered by Medicare, and to those in households below 200 percent of the federal poverty level, among others. The bill passed the House and the Senate in April.
  
  

• Senate Bill 790: Fair Share Health Care Fund Act
  The bill, which passed the House and Senate in April, requires businesses with 10,000 or more employers in Maryland to spend at least 8 percent of their payroll on employee health benefits.

• Senate Bill 727: Maryland Universal Health Care Plan
  This proposed plan would provide government-funded health insurance for all Marylanders. The bill never made it out of a Senate committee.
