Mikulski vs. Pipkin: How the Major-party Candidates Stack Up on Three Key Issues

The race for U.S. Senate in Maryland pits a 17-year incumbent against a first-year state senator: U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski, a Baltimore Democrat, vs. state Sen. E.J. Pipkin, a Queen Anne’s County Republican. Find out how their ideas on increasing the minimum wage, banning same-sex marriages and giving tax breaks to corporations measure up to yours. For each question, pick the answer that most closely represents your viewpoint. At the end of the quiz, see which candidate your opinions most closely match.

Yes. I support raising the minimum wage and think it would help boost the economy. No. I do not support raising the minimum wage, because I believe it would have an adverse effect on businesses and the job market.
No, I do not support an amendment to ban same-sex marriages and think federal and state governments should keep their current laws. Yes, I would vote for an amendment because marriage should only be between a man and a woman.
I support proposals to stop rewarding corporations that ship jobs overseas, hide assets in tax havens and fail to reinvest in communities. I do not think reducing policies that give businesses an edge in the global market should be a priority. Instead, we should take actions that will further encourage economic development and job growth.
